What this site is

Two things sit side by side here. One is the record of Bill Russell — eleven championships, the number 6, the statue on City Hall Plaza and the mentoring grant that carries his name. The other is the business that has grown up around the game since: the broadcasters, the data deals, the betting markets and the disclosure rules that are supposed to keep all of it legible to a reader.
